Don’t Run Joe campaign launches TV advertising in New Hampshire

The Don’t Run Joe campaign begins advertising on New Hampshire’s only statewide commercial TV station this week with a 60-second spot urging President Biden not to run for re-election.

Set to air during the local evening news and the Jimmy Kimmel Live program on ABC affiliate WMUR-TV, the ad features on-camera appearances by several New Hampshire Democratic voters, including State Representative Ellen Read, who says: “Our ideas are way more popular than Joe Biden is.”

Another speaker declares that “Joe Biden representing the status quo in 2024 simply won’t cut it.” A third voter warns in the ad that “we can’t afford to risk the White House for a Republican who could defeat status-quo Joe.”

“Our outreach to people who vote in New Hampshire’s Democratic primaries is just getting started,” said Jeff Cohen, cofounder of RootsAction.org, which is sponsoring the Don’t Run Joe campaign. “And we will soon be expanding to other early primary states.”

A new nationwide poll, released days ago, found that 57 percent of Democrats don’t want Biden to be the party’s nominee in 2024.

“Biden should heed the voters of his party rather than simply declaring ‘watch me’ run for re-election,” RootsAction national director Norman Solomon said. “His public approval ratings remain dismal, as they have been all year. No amount of bravado from the White House can change the severe vulnerabilities that a Biden 2024 campaign would face.”
